Paul Campbell-James is one of the most versatile Land Rover BAR sailors, with a strong, successful background in both mono and multi-hull racing. He brings a great deal of technical ability and knowledge, combined with a fine record as a multihull helmsman. He represented Italian entry, Luna Rossa Challenge, filling the role of helmsman onboard ‘Swordfish’ during the 2012/13 America’s Cup World Series, moving into a reserve Helmsman and Performance Analyst role for the team’s 34th America’s Cup campaign. Previously, Campbell-James had dominated the Extreme Sailing Series, claiming two championship titles, the first was in 2010 with The Wave, Muscat and then again in 2011 with Team Luna Rossa. Before that he raced Olympic 49ers with the British team, but narrowly missed out on selection for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Campbell-James also had an active and successful match-racing career, including winning the British National title three times, the British Universities Team Race Championship and the Match Race University World Champion title whilst studying for his degree in Ship Science at the University of Southampton. Another BAR sailor who came up through the ranks of the RYA Youth programme, he was crowned 2002 Volvo RYA National Youth Match Racing Champion and was the Optimist National Champion in 1995.
